Workouts: 10 Ways to Stay Motivated

A healthy lifestyle will have you feeling better and living a fuller, happier life. Staying motivated could be a difficult thing to do, but is achieved by making changes in moderation and consistency is key. The goal is to make improvements to your lifestyle that you can maintain.

1.) First and foremost, check your mindset! Make sure that health and fitness is on your list of priorities. Actively think about whether you are making healthy choices on a daily basis. Start thinking about your health regularly.

2.) Surround yourself with individuals who also want to be healthy. The people around you can greatly impact your daily activity and diet choices.

3.) Keep track of your physical progress, whether it’s using a scale, tape measure, through pictures or videos. Write down the number of reps you’re able to do for each exercise and how long it takes. Keeping successive objective data and tracking improvements is highly motivating!

4.) Plan your workouts for the week or have a set schedule for your workouts. Also, make sure you are eating properly and hydrating throughout the day so you are prepared for each workout.

5.) Follow an exercise program. These will push you harder, keep you focused and guide you as you progress.

6.) Keep it fresh. Try different workouts and mix it up…when one becomes “boring,” move on to the next or add something new. Try a new sport (tennis anyone?), go hiking or rock climbing…find activities that can substitute for workouts. With better physical endurance, these activities also become more enjoyable.

7.) Make yourself accountable. Tell family and friends about your health goals. Find a workout partner and pencil in workout dates together.

8.) Rewards! Allow yourself a long Netflix binge – guilt free!

9.) Buy new workout gear and use it as motivation by wearing it only when you’re working out (not as athleisure!)

10.) Don’t be too hard on yourself. Missing a workout here or there is no big deal and is not an excuse for giving up! Sometimes a little rest and recovery may just be what your body needs and could lead to greater gains later on!

Listen to your body and practice self love <3. Especially if you are just starting to workout, it’s okay to run out of steam quickly. Endurance will come with time, but make sure you are pushing yourself hard! Physical fitness is a journey and not a destination. It is meant to have ups and downs; try to stay motivated and don’t give up! You got this. 🙂
